The Problem No One Talks About For many children in Baja, Mexico, the final school bell doesn’t mean heading home to a warm meal, a quiet place to do homework or encouragement from family. It means returning to empty homes, unlit streets, or responsibilities far beyond their years. Some are forced to care for younger siblings, others must work to help their struggling families, and many simply have nowhere to go. Their potential is wasted not because they lack ability but because they lack opportunity.
But this isn’t about a lack of love—these families are close. Parents work tirelessly, sacrificing their own comfort to give their children a better future. They want the best for their kids, but poverty often leaves them with impossible choices: put food on the table or be home to help with homework, work another shift, or risk losing the only income that keeps the family afloat. Love isn’t missing—resources are.
A Shared Mission
We know we’re not alone in wanting to change this. Parents, teachers, community leaders—everyone wants to see these children succeed. But until we provide them with the tools and environment to do so, they remain trapped in a cycle of hardship. It’s time to break that cycle together.
